MAMA Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in ZsONAMACO FOTO fairdd located in Mexico City. Zona is one of Latin America’s premier international photography fairsd. MAMA will feature work by Jordan Sullivan, Cole Sternberg, and Ren Hang.
Cole Sternberg will be presenting five new unique thermal transfer works. Each piece was created out of his 22-day journey aboard the maiden voyage of the Ultra Letizia shipping vessel, sailing from Hiroshima, Japan, to the Pacific Northwest Coast. Sternberg continues his exploration into thermal image transferring and image erosion. This work is to be included in Sternberg’s upcoming book, The Nature of Breathing In Salt, published by Hat & Beard Press.
Jordan Sullivan will be presenting new large scale photographs from two new book publications. Works from Death Valley, published by Ampersand, as well as After the Funeral, published by Jane and Jeremy Books. Both books are to be released this week at Printed Matter's New York Art Book Fair. In addition, Sullivan has been selected to take part in a public art project in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Mexico City. Sullivan's work will be shown at the Monument to the Revolution in the city’s historical center.
Infamous Beijing photographer Ren Hang will be exhibiting a selection of his provocative images. Hang's work is at the forefront of the rebellious creative uprising currently occurring in China that calls for uninhibited freedom of expression. This December, Ren will have his first monograph published by Taschen. Hang’s previous eight self-published monographs are now considered hard-to-find gems.
